I Love to See the Temple

Today I got the awesome experience of taking my kids to the Draper Temple open house, even though Satan tried his hardest to keep us away. McKenzie woke up this morning dizzy and throwing up. We tried a few different things, hoping that it would make her feel better. Finally I just decided that we needed to say a little prayer. We prayed that we knew this was Satan's hand trying to keep us from doing right. We prayed that she would feel better and that we would be able to make it to the temple. By the time McKenzie got out of the tub she was already starting to feel better. She asked me "mom, what happens if we get to the temple and I get sick again?" I told her we would just have faith that she would feel fine, and thanks to answered prayers she has felt fine all day.
It was quite an emotional experience for me to take my girls to the house of the Lord. They had so much fun and it gives them something to look forward to...a temple marriage. I wanted them so much to understand how important it is to have a temple marriage, and I pray that when the time comes (far, far down the road) that is what they will choose.
Their favorite place was the baptismal font. I overheard one of the kids say that was where they wanted to be baptized. LOL. We told them they would have every opportunity to do that when they turned 12 as proxy for those who have passed on.
My favorite place of course is the Celestial Room. The feelings there are just indescribable.
Some of the kids are quite young, and I hope that they remember the thoughts and feelings they felt today as we walked through the temple. For some this is a once in a lifetime experience. For me this is the second open house I have been privileged to attend, and I would have to guess (as many temples that are in Utah) that this probably won't be the last. I am so thankful for this opportunity to take my family inside the temple before the dedication and show them the importance of the temple.
