Friday night we got to go to the city light parade. This is an annual thing the city does every year. The girls love to go watch the floats with the lights, even though it is sooo cold when we go. It's a new tradition of ours to go to the parade. We usually pop a couple bags of popcorn to eat while we watch the parade. Then we come home, drink hot chocolate and go to bed.

Putting Up The Christmas Tree
Wyatt loves the lights on the tree.

What a great time of year when we get to put up the Christmas tree. This year we got a little excited and put it up on Thanksgiving night. (We usually wait till the day after Thanksgiving.) Wyatt had been napping after a full day of Thanksgiving festivities and lots of eating. When he woke up I brought him to look at the tree. His reaction was hilarious. With eyes as big as silver dollars he said "Ooohhh. Is it?" He loved all the pretty lights. He helped us finish decorating the tree. He loved the tinsel and was playing peek a boo with it. What a cute kid!!

Pilgrim and Indian Day

This week Kaylie and Rylie got to do pilgrim and indian activities at school. Everything from basket weaving, making indian head dresses, dipping candles, indian purses and churning butter. They even threw in an extra activity of tying quilts that they are going to take to the care center when they go on a field trip next month. I was lucky enough to be able to help in the classroom both days. Later in the day on Tuesday they even had a "pie feast" Mmmmm!! What a great way to spend a school day. Wyatt even got to participate. If you notice there's one picture of him playing in the classroom with some little plastic bears. What a good little boy, especially considering he has strep throat and didn't feel very well.

Happy 88th Birthday Grandma Frampton
Grandma and mom.
Grandma and Mindy.
Grandma and Rob.
Grandma and my cousin Heidi.
Grandma and my cousin David.
Grandma and my cousin Lori.
The amazing shadow box full of memories from all of us grandkids that Mindy put together. It consists of '88 Memories of Grandma' Great job Mindy!!
Yesterday we got to celebrate our Great Grandma's 88th birthday!!! Wow, what an accomplishment to be alive for 88 years and still be as healthy and active as Grandma Frampton. We started out the night with a great dinner and then we got to "toast" Grandma. Each one of us grandkids got to take turns telling our favorite memory or experience with grandma. It was so fun to see that we all had the same experiences. What a wonderful woman!! Then we moved on to the older great-grandkids, next the 4 son-in-laws and last the daughters. My grandma is an amazing lady. She is so healthy and active. She has never spent a day in her life in the hospital with the exception of when she was giving birth to her babies and the time she was in the hospital when she and grandpa was in the car accident in 1977. She's never been in the hospital since 1977. She keeps herself busy by working in her HUGE yard. She still rakes leaves, mowes the lawn, shovels snow, climbs ladders to prune the trees, and goes out daily to pick up the apples that have fallen off the tree. Goodness, I hope that I am like her when I'm 88 years old. What an amazing example to me. We figured her posterity consists of 5 daughters, 23 grandkids and 42 great grandkids. After 'toasting' grandma, we sang happy birthday and ate birthday cake. What a wonderful night.
I only got a few pictures. Wyatt wasn't feeling very well so we didn't get to stay the whole night. I am sad that I didn't get to take any pictures with grandma and my kids, but here are a few pictures I did take.

Kaylie and Rylie's Invention Convention
Rylie displaying her math game.
Kaylie showing off her new cookie recipe. Maybe someday she'll be the new Mrs. Fields. ;)
This year in the second grade, Kaylie and Rylie got to participate in the annual Invention Convention. It's where they actually invent something and then make it to display at the convention at school. Kaylie chose to make a "new" cookie. She named it 'Kaylie's Cookie Surprise.' It was a chocolate chip cookie recipe minus the chocolate chips and for the surprise we rolled up a little piece of Snicker's candy bar in the center. They actually turned out quite good.
Rylie chose to make a "new" game. It was called "Math Sticks." She wrote a math problem on one side of a popsicle stick and on the the other side was the answer. If you got the math problem right you got to put it in the "correct" pile. If you get the answer wrong you put the stick in the "incorrect" pile and go back to it and do the math problem again when you get done.
It was a fun project for the girls to do and it was interesting to walk through their classroom and see what these little second graders came up with for their invention.

Colonial Day
McKenzie and a couple of classmates shaking their cream to "churn" it into butter.

Kenzie playing a game the children would have played (bean solitaire). The only difference is that colonial children played on boards that the grid was etched on a piece of wood or something they would have scratched in the dirt and played with rocks, corn kernals or beans.
Today McKenzie celebrated Colonial Day in school. They turned their classroom into a one room classroom like they would have done in the Colonial Days--boys on one side and girls on the other. Each student was given a colonial name. McKenzie's colonial name was 'Fanny.' They spent the morning learning like the kids did back then. She wore the colonial dress and ate a colonial lunch. I packed her a sandwich on a homemade roll, apples slices and cheese sticks. It was fun for her to be able to play out that role. After lunch she did many Colonial activities. I was there to help her class dip candles, they made 'Jacob's ladders'-A colonial game, wrote with quills, churned butter and played pioneer style games like 3-legged races and stick pulling. It was an overall fun day for her and she was glad she got to experience it.'

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween this year was a blast!! We carved our pumpkins on Thursday night. We always look forward to carving our pumpkins. On Friday afternoon we went to a Halloween party with our neighbors Adam, Karen and Zach at Adam's place of work...Omniture. Wow!! They go all out. We got to see Beetlejuice, Michael Jackson dance the Thriller, GI JOE. We got to sit in the Simpsons livingroom, walk through Smurfland, walk through the Pac Man video game, and much, much more. I've never seen such a fun show only at Disneyland. If you ever get the opportunity to go to Halloween at Omniture you need to accept the invitation. Thanks Adam and Karen for inviting us.
Saturday of course was Halloween. We went to the Main Street trick-or-treat. Stopped to visit grandparents and then went to take Colton his pumpkin-just like we do every year. The girls had tons of fun trick-or-treating and scored on the candy. Maybe we'll have to save some of it for next year. LOL!! It will probably last them that long.
