Today I got to go with Kaylie and Rylie on their field trip to Harward Farms. The girls had a blast learning about farming and the importance of of the basic four food groups. They got to pet a horse, sheep, lambs and pigs. They learned about mink. They planted wheat and ground wheat into flour. Wyatt was in heaven being around all the animals and farm equipment. He is definitely all boy!

Easter Weekend-Our Trip to St. George.

This Easter weekend, we decided to take a trip to St. George to visit some of Rich's family who lives there. We were fortunate to be able to stay with Rich's mom and Neil. It was fun to be able to spend so much time with them, and they have a big beautiful home.
We got there about 6 o'clock Friday night. We were fed a great dinner and was able to visit and catch up on lost time. We swam until the late hours of the night and had so much fun. Wyatt we've decided is a little fish. He LOVES the water. Every time we would try and take him out he would shake his head and tell us "Mo" We were finally able to drag the kids out around 11 o'clock and hit the hay.
Saturday morning we went to the local pond on the golf course and fed the ducks. They kids had fun and Wyatt had a blast. If he would have had it his way he would have been in the water with the ducks. Every time he would throw a piece of bread or popcorn he would clap and say "yay." Then we headed up Snow Canyon and went for a hike. It is so pretty up there. Why they call it Snow Canyon I don't know. There was red rock and sand everywhere. We hiked up the mountain a little ways and on the way down stopped at a place called the Sand Dunes and let the kids play in the sand. Wyatt decided he wanted to do headstands and had a head full of sand. It took 2 baths and time playing in the pool to get it all out. We took some time to go visit Grandma Fowlke. It was so nice to be able to sit and visit with her. We haven't seen her in a few years and her health has not been good recently. It was so nice to see her. We played in the pool again that night. It was so fun and really great to spend some time with Neil and get to know him better.
Sunday morning after breakfast we had an Easter egg hunt. The kids had a blast and there was plenty to go around. We were lucky to be able to have lunch with Grandma Fowlke, Aunt Alaine and Uncle Dick. We haven't seen them in years either. It was nice to be able to reflect on the reason we celebrate Easter and the blessings we receive because of our Heavenly Father. And it was nice to be able to spend time with family we don't get to see as often as we'd like.
It was a super great trip. Thanks to Neil and Jan for opening their home to us and taking such great care of us. We had such a fun time and can't wait to do it again.

Happy 11th Birthday McKenzie! We are so proud of you and the special young woman you are growing up to be. What a great day March 24th is. McKenzie entered this world 11 years ago. So lucky for her that she got to go to school on her birthday. Her teacher made it a special day for her. Then she came home and I fixed her a yummy birthday dinner. She requested North Pole Broccoli, and we had potato bar and french bread to go along with it, and of course cake and ice cream.
We celebrated her birthday on Saturday with all the family. We had hot dogs and hamburgers, yummy salads and cake and ice cream again. Whoo hoo!! She got lots of money that she can go shopping with, clothes, books and a collector Ashley Force barbie doll. Thanks to all our family who came to celebrate McKenzie's special day. We love you so much McKenzie!!

Snow in March
Seriously?? I'm beginning to wonder if Summer is ever going to get here. We are still having snow storms and cool temperatures in mid-March. SO today Rich decided to start up the 4-wheeler and take Wyatt for a ride. He loves going on 4-wheeler rides and squeals the whole time. And to top it off Kaylie and Rylie got to shovel snow off the driveway. I don't know if Summer will ever come but we love playing in the snow....NOT!!
McKenzie's Freedom Fair
This year in school McKenzie has been studying about our freedom. She was given the assignment to pick an injustice, study up on it and make a little play out of it. She along with the 4 other kids in her group chose the injustices of the Indians and how their rights were taken away and their lands were stolen from them. Here are a few pictures from her play.

Wyatt's first haircut
Today Aunt Amy was so gracious to give my little Wyatt his first haircut. He was ok as long as she used the scissors but as soon as she pulled out the clippers he cried. Yikes!! Luckily he doesn't have that much hair so it didn't take long. Only about ten minutes. What a handsome little boy that is growing up so fast. We love you Wyatt!!♥

Veggie Power
This year in 5th grade McKenzie was required to participate in the school Science Fair. After much research and consideration she (I) decided that she (I) would do a project on how to make electricity out of food. Ha,ha. So this project that she was required to do really turned into a momwork. If you have kids in school I'm sure you know what a momwork is. He,he! All in all the project was really fun and McKenzie (I) learned a lot. I even got to go to school on Friday and judge the projects. And man....I am not smarter than a 5th grader!!!!

Remembering

January 28th and 29th are two significant days in my life. Yesterday-January 28 is my Grandpa's birthday. He would have been 87 years old. Sadly he passed away almost 2 years ago and I miss him very much. I miss his bowl full of jelly laugh. I miss his singing. He was always singing a funny little tune. "Mmm Mmm Good, Mmm Mmm Good, that's why Campbell's soup is Mmm Mmm Good." I smile every time I hear it. He always sang that song and chuckled. I love peanut butter cups and ice cream because of my grandpa. I treasure the things he taught me. He taught me how to garden and how to care for roses, the best way to remove dandelions. All those things I never thought that I would use I consider some of my precious lessons from him.
Today-January 29 is the 20 year anniversary of my Grandmas death. I will never forget January 27, 1990. My grandma suffered a stroke that left her brain dead. We kept her on life support machines long enough for my Aunt who lived in North Carolina to get to Utah. On January 28, the doctors informed us that she was brain dead and suggested they turn off the life support machines. My dad pulled the doctor aside and told them we couldn't do it that day because it was my grandpas birthday. She left this earthly life the following day surrounded by her family and into the arms of our Heavenly Father. I will never forget my grandma and the lessons she taught me. The things that remind me of grandma are peaches, pine-sol, BYU football, May I, Genealogy and Hickory Farms, Christmas and New Years. Just to name a few.
- Grandma taught me how to bottle peaches-I remember when I was about 13 years old she sent grandpa out to pick all the peaches off the tree. We stood there all day long washing, peeling, slicing and canning those peaches.
- It was always a guarantee that on Saturday mornings I could walk into grandma and grandpas house and smell pine-sol. That was her favorite thing to clean with. She was always singing to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and wearing her house coat. To this day I clean my house with pine-sol because it reminds me of her.
- You will never find anyone on the face of this earth who was a bigger BYU football fan than grandma. I think that's why I'm such a huge fan too. I loved sitting with her watching football games.
- My grandma's second love-next to my grandpa was doing genealogy. She literally spent hours working on genealogy. She was such a great example. She loved the church. She held Family Home Evening with our family every Sunday night and taught me the importance of scripture study. She was the most amazing person and I will truly cherish the memories I have with her.
I am so grateful for the plan of salvation, to know that this is not the end and that our family members who have passed on still live. They are learning and progressing just as we are. I am so grateful to both my grandma and my grandpa for the innumerable lessons they taught me and continue to teach me. I love you both and miss you so much!!
